There are few stretches of water that you can fish without asking permission first; getting a day ticket or joining a fishing club.
Additionally, to fish rivers or still waters you must posses a valid rod licence and be prepared to show it when requested by an Environment Agency Fisheries Enforcement Officer or other authorised person.
The licence lasts for a year, ending 31st March.

Apply by yearly direct debit
Contact the Environment Agency to set up a Direct Debit. Your renewal payment will be taken from your account at the beginning of March each year. Your new licence will be posted to you in April.Environment Agency
